U-Boot Bootloader Commands - mixed output, commands sent too fast?

Hey everyone! As I got last problems solved, I am able to boot my device - but that doesn't work out to be reliable. During inspection of console output, I see that there are "random" chars where I don't expect them to be, these chars are the next command that gets sent - before the previous command is finished. For me it seems as U-Boot bootloader-commands doesn't wait for the prompt. Can this be the case here? Or is something other going wrong? Configuration basically the same as in https://lists.lavasoftware.org/archives/list/lava-users@lists.lavasoftware.… Serial console of the device is connected via USB2Serial adapter which uses ser2net to make this available with Telnet (which seems to be the LAVA default way to go). In console I can see things like this, e.g. when tftp command shows its progress, only '#' should be displayed, but there are chars in between: Loading: *################s#####################################e############ ###############t######################################e############ ########################n#####################################v#### The chars in there are "setenv" which is the next command that LAVA wants to execute. This causes the boot to fail in some occurrences, e.g. if dhcp command is not yet fully executed and zImage already tried to load, thus it fails and boot fails. See attached (stripped to relevant parts) log for details. As workaround I set character delay to 100 milliseconds, which seems to make it a bit more reliable, but that can only be a temporary solution, as the characters still appear at the wrong place. Problem while testing a new device type template

I was trying to follow the section testing new device template here : https://validation.linaro.org/static/docs/v2/development-intro.html#develop… but I am getting the error : root@master1:/# lava-server manage device-dictionary Unknown command: 'device-dictionary'. Did you mean device-tags? Type 'lava-server help' for usage. Some versions information : master1:/#lava-server manage version 2.2.28 lab-slave-0:/# lavacli system version 2023.01 Is the documentation outdated, or am I trying to execute the command in the wrong place ? Bug using SSH as primary connection

Hello everyone, There seems to be a bug in LAVA. I was on version 2022.04 and have also tried 2023.03. Both versions have the same bug. How to set particular connection from available connection list from job description yaml

Hi Everyone, My board has multiple uarts and they are designed to act as different serial consoles of platform OS. So I am trying to set the desired connection (serial) while calling the respective platform boot/flash method from the job description. Unable to extract cpio archive on extracting lava ramdisk overlay

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing this error on setting up my U-Boot based device: Unable to extract cpio archive '/var/lib/lava/dispatcher/tmp/17/extract-overlay-ramdisk-tv17mriz/ramdisk.cpio': Command '['cpio', '--extract', '--make-directories', '--unconditional', '--file', '/var/lib/lava/dispatcher/tmp/17/extract-overlay-ramdisk-tv17mriz/ramdisk.cpio']' returned non-zero exit status 2. As documentation in https://docs.lavasoftware.org/lava/actions-deploy.html#deploy-action-roles states, the overlay will only be used, when a test action is defined in job - so I removed the test action (and the log states "[common] skipped lava-overlay - no test action.") but the error still appears. For debugging I commented out the _cleanup() function in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/lava_dispatcher/job.py (and can see in job output that dispatcher tmp directory isn't cleaned anymore) but somehow the directory still disappears, so I don't know how to debug this further. So what's going wrong here? How to get the overlay working? Running LAVA 2023.01 on Debian 11.6, full log see attached. Thanks in advance!

Not able to unpack the overlay other than "/" directory

Hi Team, Facing an issue while unpack the overlay in some custom location other than "/" directory. From the LAVA linaro documentation I came to know that the -C / command to tar is essential or the test shell will not be able to start. Below are the issues that I am facing because of this. * My / directory is a read only one and I want it in some /etc or /var. * The LAVA job is getting stuck while doing the unpack with the command below in job definition. transfer_overlay: download_command: cd /tmp; wget unpack_command: tar -C /tmp -xzf Below I am attaching the test log from LAVA. HTTP 500 on some pages, login not possible anymore

Hey there, I set up LAVA, and ran some jobs (e.g qemu from tutorial) which went fine - but I noticed HTTP 500 status code on /api/help page. Which wasn't severe as I thought I might ask that later. But this monday I discovered that /accounts/login/ isn't working anymore, HTTP 500 status code too! Of course I didn't change anything... (everybody says that) and honestly can't say when this broke as I only logged in once after install. Django log says "django.contrib.sites.models.Site.DoesNotExist: Site matching query does not exist."and as far as I can see Sites reside in database? As I'm new to LAVA I don't know how to debug and to solve this, can you please help me? Is there a way to re-install the sites/templates? Logs that might be relevant are attached. After install (and qemu setup) I noticed that /var is full. This is resolved (deleted some docker images), but might be relevant. Running on current Debian 11 as apt install, recent LAVA version. Deploying LAVA packages on Debian11

Hello Lava Users, On deploying the latest LAVA release(LAVA 2022.11.1) packages after building the packages on Debian11 Host , we are facing issue with deploying lava-dispatcher-host package on Debian 11 host(11.6). On checking further we noticed https://git.lavasoftware.org/lava/lava/-/blob/master/debian/control , lava-dispatcher-host package depends on base-files (<< 11.1) but base-files on system is 11.1+deb11u6. To support Deploying on latest Debian bullseye release should this be updated or are we missing something. $ sudo dpkg -i lava-dispatcher-host_2022.11.1+11+bullseye_all.deb (Reading database ... 283093 files and directories currently installed.) lava-test-shell timeout : How to run test-suites using lava-test-case/shell/runner where DUT is non-IP or no NFS support

Hi Team, I had a Query which is particularly to use lava-test-shell or other binaries like lava-test-runner. My board is booted with Linux and It has a POSIX environment but it doesn't support either ssh/nfs due to the low memory footprint available and the ethernet driver not fully functional. To test/run my test-suite drivers How can I use lava-test-runner/ lava-test-shell ? Is it possible to test our suite using lava-test-shell/runner where DUT doesn't have the ethernet/nfs support. I am getting lava-test-shell timeout on the DUT console whereas Lava-worker had all the binaries available by lava-overlay method. Please find the attached test job definition/lava-job log files for your reference. Kindly let me know the solution.

Job does not exiting even after the timeout

Hi. It looks like I am facing the same problem and the job does not exist even after the timeout. . I guess there might be communication gap between the Dispatcher and server. Hi Team, I'm running Multi node testing by connecting two devices of the same type. But it results in a socket connection error. I check the lava-coordinator conf file in server and dispatcher, both contain the same configuration. Enquire if frequent bpf action will cause any performance drop?

In fact, I didn't see any performance drop because I'm still trying it in a small and initial phase, just want to eliminate any risk when move to debian11, you know if issue happen in production environment, it maybe really not easy to debug. Back to the question: in lava, if we use debian11 which default cgroupV2 enabled, then when use docker-test-shell, lava will attach a custom BPF Device program to container to replace the default one in docker. When I’m trying to add tests it fails since the overlay isn’t found. How are tests added when outside of a QEMU instance (which uses mount)?. My idea was to use SCP but defining a `ssh_host` for for the targeted device gives me an error since power commands are defined. I’m thinking of a workflow like tftpboot -> wait for prompt -> run scp -> run tests. All I could find in the docs is MultiNode related, which is from my understanding something I don’t want for this very basic testing. Could someone please give me some advise? Best, Paul

Console connection terminates , if target physical reset with "pdu""

Hi, My console connection terminates if I add the logic to reset my target physically. But this does not if I reboot my target using "reboot" I suspect this issue may arise due to re-initiating my target USB-Serial ftdi driver after target physical power off/on. Device stuck in 'Running'

Hey, I've a device stuck in 'Running' state, but missing the usual appending of '#<123> <Job Name> [submitter]'. It does not accept new jobs and cycling it through it's health states does not change the state. We had to reboot our systems unplanned (and uncoordinated) today, so that might be the cause of the issue, but I would like to get my device back :D Google surfaced an old, outdated FAQ in the lava sources [1], and a bug marked as solved in our version 2021.11 [2], but both didn't really don't work as expected. Does somebody have some tips how to set/force the device state to 'Idle' manually? Running a test on dispatcher

Hi, I'm trying to test HDMI output from my DUT. The HDMI-USB capture device is plugged to the dispatcher. The test is simple: it captures a frame from the video device on the dispatcher and compares it to the reference. If the difference is below threshold, the test is passed. How to retrieve the prompt content with Uboot

Unable to delete Lava devices

Hi Lava Users, We are facing issue while deleting/removing some devices from LAVA. After clicking the "Delete" button located in "http://<lava url>/admin/lava_scheduler_app/device/<device we want to remove>/change/<http://%3clava%20url%3e/admin/lava_scheduler_app/device/%3cdevice%20we%20want%20to%20remove%3e/change/>" the following message is observed "Proxy Error" (check the attached image for the complete message) This error is observed only in some devices. HTTPS configuration for LAVA Server.

Hi All , We had lava-server running on HTTP , we needed to migrate to HTTPS for security reasons. We have configured our lava-server for HTTPS by configuring apache2 with root and issuing SSL certificates. Post migration from HTTP to HTTPS, lava server works fine , but we are facing issues while worker tries to connect to lava server, Following is the error that we are getting in lava-worker.log ERROR -> server error: code 503 2022-03-29 19:38:15,598 DEBUG --> HTTPSConnectionPool(host='*.com', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /scheduler/internal/v1/workers/<worker-name> /?version=2021.10 (Caused by SSLError(SSLCertVerificationError(1, '[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate (_ssl.c:1123)'))) Are there any configurations that we have to do on the worker side to enable the sever - worker communication to be up and running. LAVA bug when trying to use case sensitive file names with flasher

Hi, I'm trying to use flashing script with one of my IMX family boards. Flashing one of the boards requires a file which name starts with SPL-. I need to pre-process some of the downloaded files so I'm using deploy-to-downloads. After that I'm using deploy-to-flasher to flash the board with NXP's uuu tool. Unfortunately copying files from deploy-to-downloads to deploy-to-flasher results in losing the uppercase characters. This is due to LAVA internally using urllib.parse.urlparse.hostname. This method always returns lowercase strings. This doesn't matter in case of http(s) URLs but makes a difference in LAVA's internal download:// URLs. To fix that, 'hostname' should be changed to 'netloc'. I sent the patch to my branch here: https://git.lavasoftware.org/mwasilew/lava/-/tree/downloads-url-case Unfortunately I'm no longer able to create a merge request (sth wrong with authentication in gitlab). Lava JOB status still shows running even after job completed

However, I am not using this type of device myself, so I can't help more. how to edit the configured "lava-worker" host name

Hi, Recently my "lava-worker" host name was changed and showed the same offline in Lava-server. Is there any easy way to edit the old hostname with the new hostname (in lava-server side software) to bring back the lava-worker/dispatcher online ? Regards, Koti

How to install 2021.10 "Lava-dispatcher" now

Hi, I plan to install the 2021.10 lava-dispatcher instead of the 2021.11 latest version. I am unable to install the 2021.10 lava-dispatcher version but able to install 2021.11 using "apt install lava-dispatcher" Is there any way to install the 2021.10 lava-dispatcher at this time? Or do we always need to install the latest versions? Regards, koti

Constant failure_retry does not exist in the device config 'constants'

Hi All, I got struck with strange issue with latest version 2021.10 - *error_msg*: Constant failure_retry does not exist in the device config 'constants' section. - *error_type*: Configuration ConfigurationError: The LAVA instance is not configured correctly. Please report this error to LAVA admins. My setup is working fine with 2021.05. But after upgrading with the latest version 2021.10 none of the jobs are not working. Always it raises the Exception called Configuration Error. Looking forward to your kind response!!! Regards Nagendra S
